  • Tonight on Wavin' the Wheat:  Michael Spero, Mike Smith, and Scott Pelan welcome Matt Davison from the Husker Sports Network.  Matt is the football analyst for Nebraska radio broadcasts and he will help the guys preview the 2009 Nebraska football team.  Also, football writer Jayson Jenks from the University Daily Kansan will be in studio to talk KU football.  The guys will also continue their 2009 Big 12 Football Preview.  Be sure to tune in for your chance at winning free sub sandwiches from Jersey Mike's!  KJHK 90.7 FM or kjhk.org to listen!

  • A-HAMM ON THE Hill Debut
  • KU basketball it's never too late or early to talk about it because it's always on the minds of KU fans; I know it's always on mine. Coach Bill Self has held his basketball camps recently and with them comes the alumni vs. current player's games. Fans got an early look at next year's team and previous KU players.

     

    Attending both games I saw some interesting things about the team. Before I give my evaluation/thoughts on the current players, here's a quick overview on each alumni game.

    Game 1 (June 10th): Alumni won 67-52

  • KU football looks primed for another good season with many returning players; Coach Mangino has this team headed in the right direction and the program is now garnering national media attention. This time of year many so called experts come out with preseason rankings and predictions for the college football season.

Events

  • Tune in Monday night 6-7 p.m. to hear The Kickoff discuss KU's bowl possibilities as well as an interview with the ONLY employee of the BCS, Bill Hancock. We'll ask him the odds of two non-automatic qualifiers making BCS games and if we can expect any changes to the system in the near future.

  • Tonight on Wavin' the Wheat (6:00 to 7:00 PM) we will talk KU/Big 12 football.  Our guest is play-by-play broadcaster Brian Jensen from the Texas Tech Sports Network.  He will help us analyze KU's upcoming game against the Red Raiders.  Also, be sure to catch our weekly picks segment!

  • Tune in at 6 p.m. Monday to hear about all of the records the KU offense set against Iowa State. Plus you will hear directly from Coach Mangino about how disappointed he was in the performance of the defense. We will also have Mark Johnson, the play-by-play man for the Colorado Buffaloes, and B.G. Brooks from CU Athletics on the show to preview Kansas' upcoming road game against the University of Colorado and discuss the recent decision of Colorado Head Coach Dan Hawkins to change quarterbacks.
